Three people where arrested last week on weapon and drug charges following a court-authorized search warrant for a residence in the 900 block of Herron Street in Hardin.
According a press release, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office executed the search around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, June 16, and seized a loaded firearm, large amounts of ammunition, suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.
Charles D. Ball, age 53, of Cottage Hills was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful possession of firearm ammunition by a felon, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tracie M. Fender, 51 of Hardin was also arrested following the search for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Clinton E. Lefler, 54 and listed as homeless was arrested on possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia charges.
In an unrelated matter, Stacey L. Habermehl, 49 of St. Charles, Missouri, was arrested for methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia charges following a traffic stop.
The Sheriff’s Office said Habermehl was a passenger in the vehicle which was stoped on Thursday, June 15, on Golden Eagle Ferry Road in Golden Eagle.
Other recent arrest from the Calhoun Sheriff’s Department include Johnny Chapman, 38, of Louisiana, Missouri was arrested following a traffic stop in Kampsville on Thursday, June 8, for unlawful possession of dangerous weapon by a felon, driving while license suspended and operating uninsured.
In an unrelated case, Jerry Thomas, age 36, of Wood River, Illinois, was arrested following a domestic disturbance at a residence on Porcupine Lane in Hamburg, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department.
Thomas was arrested for two counts of aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery and unlawful restraint.
At the time of the offense, Thomas was on mandatory supervised release (parole) from the Illinois Department of Corrections for unrelated convictions for aggravated domestic battery, the Sheriff’s press release stated.
Thomas was arrested without incident and transported to the Jersey County Jail.
On Tuesday, June 13, Thomas pled guilty to aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery. Thomas was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, by the Honorable Judge Charles HW Burch.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance in the prosecution of the Thomas case, as well as Illinois Conservation Police and Hardin Fire Department with the search warrant execution.
The Sheriff’s Office also gave the reminder that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
