An accident Thursday, Aug. 10 at approximately 4:45, sent an driver to the hospital with what those on the scene describe as minor to moderate injures. The Illinois State Police are not identifying the driver, who was alone in the vehicle.
According to ISP reports, the car was west bound on I-72 when he went off the road to the left, going through the grass median, across the east bound lanes, into a ditch embankment and up a steep embankment for the overpass for Cox Lane. The driver then went through the guardrail on the east side of Cox Lane and then into the guardrail on the west side.
Winchester EMS and Fire Departments responded to the accident, as well as the Illinois State Police.
