Normally it’s Friday Night Lights but this week it was Football Saturday. The game of the season, Calhoun Warriors vs. the Greenfield Tigers played on Warrior Territory and it was packed full of fans. I think anyone attending that game would probably be in agreement that it was one of the best football games to be seen. Our outcome wasn’t exactly what we would like it to be but those boys played a game to be proud of.
Our Warrior Volleyball team still remains undefeated! So let me just say “It’s A Great Week to Be a Warrior “.
Also, a great week to kick off homecoming week! Sunday night, the bonfire was held on the Hardin Riverfront by the Illinois Riverdock. An 80s theme for the high school and alumni. Lots of fun activities are scheduled throughout the week for the high school. Students and parents get to just enjoy watching them have the time of their life. From the different theme days to the Powder Puff Game on Thursday, parade on Friday afternoon followed by Pep Rally to the Friday night as the Warriors take on the Carrollton Hawks. Coronation of homecoming, queen and king will be during halftime of the football game and the dance Saturday will wrap up the week.
Saturday morning the JFL heavy weights will be playing in the first round of playoffs at home beginning at 10 am. Come cheer them on.
Don’t forget Community Expo night September 28 at St. Anslems Hall 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Happy 50th Birthday to our favorite bridge tender Craig Johnson.
Congratulations Alan and Kayla (Yocum) Baremore who married Saturday. That wedding was absolutely beautiful as was the bride and all of the guests had a great time celebrating such a wonderful couple.
Congratulations Damian & Courtney (Holland) Baalman who were married Saturday.

Sympathy to the family of Virginia Breden who passed away last week. Virginia was the custodian at Calhoun Grade school for many years and truly one of the kindest ladies I’ve ever known. I’ve actually known her my whole life and she will be missed.
