The cold temperatures are hanging in there and we are missing the use of our ferry. But as soon as the thaw occurs, our guys will be back hard at it.
Dicks Riverside would like to thank all the loyal customers who braved the cold this week. They will continue with limited hours until the weather breaks.
Exciting news in Kampsville the Sons of the Legion are going to start serving coffee, biscuits and gravy and danish beginning Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Kampsville Legion from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. They will do this seven days a week.
Congratulations to new parents Reed and Morgan Rusten on the birth of their daughter Georgia Claire Rusten made her debut January 15 weighing 9 lbs. 20 oz. and 22 inches long. Grandparents are Mike Black and Nikki Stein of Kampsville , Danny Stein and Jackie Ralston of Hardin , Hannah Rusten of Roodhouse and the late Pat Rusten. Great grandparents are Rache and Nancy Lippencott of Kampsville and Great Grandpa Maurice Lammy of Kampsville. She is certainly a beautiful little blessing and very much loved.
Eldon and Christine Jones celebrated their 61 wedding anniversary Jan. 19 with dinner and cake with their family at Straight Home. 61 years ago when they were married, they went into the church and it was 45° out when they came out a half an hour later it was 20° with snow and ice. The January weather has pretty much stayed the same in 61 years.
Don’t forget to sign your little princess up for the third annual princess tea party, hosted by Calhoun County Fair Pageant Committee. It will be held Feb. 24 at Straight Home for ages 4-9.
Calhoun Entertainment Company has been busy rehearsing for their upcoming Spring Musical “Fiddler on the Roof” it will be held March 14-17 at the Center for American Archeology Gym.
St. Anslem’s Cemetery committee will be hosting an Easter Game Night Feb. 10 beginning at 5 p.m.
Sympathy to the family of Ted Baalman who passed away Jan. 18. I don’t think I ever saw Ted without a smile, such a witty fun guy. Please keep his wife Diane, kids Michael, Kyle and Sarah in your prayers. There will be a Celebration of Life on Jan. 27 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Straight Home Bar and grill. Continue prayers for Luanne Baalman, Kathryn Chapman, Bev Mosbarger, Margie Smith, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Joyce Blumenberg, Billie Jo Eickmeyer, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kiera Sievers, Connor Gilman, Linda Herkert, JoeAnne Feyerabend and Cassie Blackwell.
