The Winchester EMS held their annual Chili Cookoff Saturday, Jan. 27 at the EMS building in Winchester.
Approximately 12 different cooks participated in the cookoff this year.
This year marked the 25th year of the Winchester EMS chili cook-off fundraiser.
Fundraisers and donations have long served as vital sources of funding for the ambulance service.
Before a prior year’s chili cook-off, Winchester EMS service’s Jennifer McMillen said that the cook-off routinely brought in thousands of dollars, used to purchase life-saving supplies and equipment.
This year’s cookoff was no different and, according to Winchester EMS Administrator Randy Dolen, this year’s chili cook-off raised approximately $4,800 for the ambulance service. Funds raised are used to bankroll ambulance service operations and purchase lifesaving supplies and equipment.
Dolen reported that attendance was good at this year chili cook-off, with approximately 300 in attendance over the course of the fundraising event.
