Residents of Calhoun are mourning the loss of the guy who helped everyone when they mourned their loved ones.
Phil Gress passed away September 24 with his family by his side . Phil was the former owner of Hanks Gress Funeral Home and even after retiring he still assisted any way he could to make everything as easy as possible for the families as well as serving as a mentor to the ones taking care of it now . Compassionate and tending to every detail no matter time of day or night. Phil was also a very active member of the community formerly serving as Mayor of Hardin. In addition he enjoyed playing drums for the Crypt Kickers Band and was a member of the Calhoun Entertainment Company and active supporter of the Arts.
In finishing up this story I would have to say there probably isn’t anyone in Calhoun that Phil didn’t help in the hardest moments of their life.
