Carrollton Hawks football player Grant Cox and Calhoun Warriors Volleyball player Leila Shulte were involved in a very bad traffic accident Friday evening and sustained injuries that will require multiple surgeries and hospital stays.
The WIVC Facebook page posted Saturday afternoon asking for prayers for both athletes. Area teams playing Saturday afternoon games joined hands in prayers. Calhoun “Momographer” Bonnie Snyders or Bon Bon as she’s known by most got busy putting together donation buckets to be placed at Straight Home Bar and Grill as the Calhoun Warriors watched to find out their playoff opponent and accepted Venmo donations for both families.
Carrollton businesses also without hesitation, jumped in for both athletes. The Grain Bin in Carrollton gave 30% of their Saturday profit to help both families as well All About You Boutique giving portions of their profits. Collection buckets are still out at Eldred Bluff Side Bar and Grill and around Calhoun at Straight Home, Longneckers Bar and Grill, Fill Inn Station and Hardin Package Liquor.
Both of these stellar athletes will have long roads ahead of them in their recovery and could use continued prayers. All the Carrollton and Calhoun residents came together as well as all of the surrounding teams together in solidarity to show support being a Hawk or Warrior no longer mattered. We are “WIVC Strong”
