Gertie Mae Ruyle | 86 | Waverly
Gertie Mae Ruyle, 86 of Waverly, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 2, 1939, in Carrollton the daughter of Andrew and Floreca (Craddock) Stewart. She married Billy D. Ruyle on February 16, 1957, at the United Methodist Parsonage in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2019.
She is survived by her children, Gregory Ruyle, Jerry Lee (Pam) Ruyle, William Joseph (Cynthia) Ruyle and Tracy Mills; 10 grandchildren, Ammie (Chad) Stringer, Brook Reno, Wesley Adam (Melissa) Ruyle, Kelli Jo (Jonathan) Campbell, Morgan Whitney, Caleb (Cheyenne) Ruyle, Jacob Mills, Andrew (Liz) Mills, Trisha (Cameron) Mank, and Adam Ruyle; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and two adopted brothers, Tom and Jim Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son in law, Chip Mills; two brothers, Bill and Bob Stewart, and one adopted brother, Richard Stewart.
Gertie worked as a school bus driver in Greene County before retiring as a lab tech with Memorial Hospital. She had a love for sewing and owned the Quilted Cow in Jacksonville. She was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardianls, the Kansas City Chiefs, and loved her dogs, camping, playing cards. Gertie was a member of the Waverly First Baptist Church.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at the Waverly First Baptist Church. The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 at the church. A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Memorials are suggested to Waverly First Baptist Church or PAWS.
