Juanita R. Potter | 85 | Pleasant Hill

Juanita R. Potter, 85, of Pleasant Hill, IL passed away at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.Juanita was born July 19, 1940 in the Pleasant Hill bottoms, a daughter of George William and Pearl Marie Cates Johnston. She married Ernest E. Potter, Jr on Oct. 6, 1963 in Pleasant Hill and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2010.
Juanita was a long time employee of Stark Brothers Nursery in Louisiana, MO. She also enjoyed working at Pam’s Restaurant in Pleasant Hill for many years.
Juanita enjoyed word search puzzles, taking care of plants and her canine companions. She was also known to be a bit of a flirt.
Most important was the time spent with her family, especially her granddaughter Lauren (husband Shawn) Dittmer and their fur babies, Balder and Frig.
Survivors include two children, Tina Jones of Pleasant Hill and Clifford Potter of Pleasant Hill, granddaughter, Lauren (Shawn) Dittmer of Ogden, UT, a sister, Phyllis Baxter of Summer Hill, a brother, Keith (Sandra) Johnston of Chattanooga, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Anna Belle Duckworth and Beverly O’Donnell and by two brothers, Dick Johnston and Rodney Johnston.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. Inurnment will follow at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
