It’s a beautiful spring day, breezy and cool. Sunday the peonies are close to blooming, and the mushrooms are almost out of season.
A big event for those of high school age centered around the Prom at Calhoun High School. The scene at the school featured the students walking in with their evening attire alone or with their escort, followed by a decorated scene at the KC Hall below Hardin.
The third week of the month was a busy time for meetings. The Batchtown Woman’s Club Met Wednesday, April 15 at the Fill Inn Station for dinner, and conversation followed by planning for the Game Day scheduled for Sunday, August 23rd.
The Silver Medallion Award was awarded to the top 8% of the 2026 Class of Calhoun High School at Lewis and Clark Community College on April 16th. The winners were: Emma Rose of Batchtown. Her parents are Brad and Anna Rose, Hannah Klaas of Batchtown, Her parents are Eric, and LeaAnn Klaas. Jack Zipprich of Hardin, His parents are Josh and Missy Zipprich. Congratulations to all on this accomplishment.
The Calhoun High School had their prom Saturday evening, April 18th. The traditional “Walk In” was held at the Calhoun Fair Grounds. It was followed by the Prom at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hardin. The decorative setting, and good music provided by the D.J. was enjoyed by all. The Prom Queen was Kiera Sievers of Batchtown, daughter of Shawn and Kristen Sievers. and the King was Jack Goode, of Batchtown, son of Caleb and Angie Goode.
The after Prom was held at Urban Air, Cottleville, Mo. There were 94 kids attending after Prom. A nice crowd and a day to remember.
The Grief Share Grief Support Group will begin on Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. from June thru August. You don’t have to walk alone for more information, call Angie Goode at 618-410-9152. Sign up is available at this time.
On Monday, April 20 Irene Wallendorf, and daughters Hope Klocke, Kathy Wallendorf, and Lisa Roth, took some time off, and went to the Casino Bell in Alton for fun, and games. They also had lunch together. All had a good time.

The Batchtown Cornerstone Church Sunday Service is 10:45 a.m. Bible Class IS Wed. at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry, and Clothing Store is open every Wed. from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
St. Vincent DePaul Society helps with Rent, Utilities, Mortgage, GED., and help with other Agencies. Call the volunteer on duty at l-618- 310-1141 for assistance.
