It’s the last week of April and time flies! The farmers and garden growers are busy planting this year’s crops. The Illinois River, and Mississippi Rivers are up but not to the level of the road in Hardin. They aren’t at flood stage. Travel is good and everyone can travel across the Hardin Bridge. The peach crop in Calhoun may be light this year, but there will be a peach crop. We’re hearing that the gardens, and fruits are doing well.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society Pantry, and Clothing Store is closed this week. This is the fifth Wednesday of the month. They are always closed the fifth Wednesday of the month. Volunteers are always needed at the Food Pantry. Spread the word that food is available to those who need it. Donations are always needed. Thanks for all that you do! The Food Pantry is located at 105 French Street in Hardin. The phone number is 1-618-576-2500. The Food Pantry Manager is Robin Hillen.
St. Vincent DePaul helps with Rent, Utilities, Mortgage, GED, and Help with other agencies. Call the volunteer on call at 1-618-310-1141 for assistance.
The Calhoun Historical Society met at the Il. Riverdock Restaurant Thursday, April 23 for the Annual Meeting. There were around 20 members there. The President, Emerson Retzer presented an interesting program.
The Batchtown Tavern had a D.J. last Saturday night. Tony Franke, and daughter, Margaret celebrated their birthdays, she was 21. We wish them both a happy year.
St. Mary’s School is sponsoring their 25th Annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, May 31, at the Rolling Hills Golf Course at 5801 Cierce Lane, Godfrey, Ill. It is an 18 Hole, four person Scramble. Registration begins at 12 p.m. It starts with the sound of a shotgun at 1 p.m. The Prizes will be awarded to 1st., 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. The number of entries will determine the amount of prize money awarded. $300.00 per team includes Green Fees, Food and Drink, Cart, and chances to win additional prizes.

Last week Roy and Helen Sievers took a trip to Florida to visit Phil and Kelly Sievers and their children Edie, and Jobe. While there, they enjoyed walking near the ocean and attending the musical Mary Poppins. They look forward to returning this Fall to see Granddaughter Edie Sievers in the next musical. She has been in musicals after being recommended at school to audition at the “Spot Light On The Stars”, and was picked by her performance, and ability…
Judy Lamer, Linda Russell, and Marcy Klockenkemper had a sister day out Friday. They took a ride and stopped by for lunch at Harvest Home in Jerseyville. They had a delicious lunch and caught up on the family news.
Kenny and Bette Eilerman, and several other garden and orchard growers are planting their crops. Some of them are harvesting asparagus, and pretty spring flowers.
Linda Russell enjoyed having her family, Stevee, and Cindy Mezorus, and son Hayden home Sunday. They visited, mowed the grass, and other yard work.
Vera Ann Klockenkemper visited with her sister Elda Hayn, and her daughters Tonya, and Tammy this week
St. Mary’s School took a field trip to the St. Louis Zoo Thursday, April 23rd, They had a good time.

The Batchtown Cornerstone Church has Sunday Service at 10:45 a.m., and Bible Class every Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
