Starting out this Monday morning with the weatherman saying chance of showers by evening and temperature only in the upper 80’s. The past week was extremely hot and the heat index of 101-105 made it even worse. We need rain (and cooler temperatures) so hope the forecast is correct!
Last Thursday evening the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival performed the play “Othello” at the Brussels Heritage Park. Many brought their lawn chairs and came to purchase food and drinks before the play began. Many thanks to all who made the evening possible, I heard it was very enjoyable.

John and Caleb Carnes were my visitors and workers on Sunday afternoon while Julie visited her parents Francis and Liz Toppmeyer and helped them. That evening I accompanied John to the Toppmeyers to enjoy a delicious Mexican meal of Chicken and Beef Fajita’s, fried rice, refried beans and all the fixings and for dessert an ice cream cake from DQ, all compliments of the Carnes family. Arriving later in the evening after she got off work was Lydia Carnes. Thanks to John and Julie for the wonderful meal and to Francis and Liz for their hospitality, we all had an enjoyable dinner and visit.

Prayer for Labor Day
Lord of all, remind us this day that no matter what our vocations, we should work knowing that you are our true master. Let us be ever mindful of serving You as we serve others in our work. Let us be good examples of dedication first to You, Lord, and then examples of dedication to our earthly work. Give us rest and relaxation this day from our labor. In Jesus’ name, Amen
