A wonderful Halloween here in Kampsville. The weather was perfect Sunday night and the little trick-or-treaters were out. We even had a group that had a hayride to trick-or-treat.
There was a wonderful crowd trick-or-treating at the town hall. Thank you Amanda Johnson for making the treat bags and Marcia Agney, Dennis and Robin Johnson for handing the candy out.
We are barely finished with Halloween here in Kampsville, but throwing ourselves full steam ahead into getting ready for the Holiday Season.
The Lite- up Kampsville committee, are planning on decorating the Gazebo and Veterans Memorial Park for the Holidays. Anyone wanting to donate lights, please let Bill or Marcia Agney, James Palmer, Rob Parameter, Wade Gibson, Dennis Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Debby Klunk or myself know.
You may have noticed the town park next to the Village Hall is looking better. Thanks to Shawn Shewmake and Simon Taylor for painting the play equipment. These two guys are some hard workers. Our village is fortunate to have them.
The Kampsville American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting a meal at the Legion for all Veterans and their families on Thursday, Nov. 11, at noon.
The Sons of the American Legion hosted a Meat Shoot on Sunday afternoon. I will try to let everyone know when the next one is.
Calhoun Royalty had another busy fall weekend. Saturday they attended Hamburg trunk or treat. Enjoyed seeing all the trunks, playing the games and also enjoying some delicious chili and hot dogs.
They then attended the Brussels trunk or treat. They enjoyed the trunks as well as judging the costumes. Thanks to Mayor Eric Benoist and Mayor Emily Fortschneider for inviting them.
On Sunday afternoon they not only picked their favorite Trunk at the Hardin Trunk or Treat, Queen Elsa and Queen Anna also had a Frozen themed Trunk where they handed out candy. Thanks to Sue Aderton for inviting them. There was so much fun had by all and it was right here in our small county!!
I personally attended all of the events with them this weekend and I saw so many cute costumes. I also love how families get involved.
Aaron Tucker and his daughter, Savannah, enjoyed the Illini Football Game Saturday.
Rodney Johnson and dad, Paul Klunk, enjoyed a successful deer hunt Halloween morning. Rodney got his first deer harvested with a bow. He shot her at 20 yards and she only ran about 70 feet. I bet the smile was just as big on Paul’s face as it was on Rodney’s.
Happy first Birthday Huey Hayn on Nov. 28. Huey had a busy birthday weekend attending Trunk or Treats and Trick or Treating.
Happy 90th birthday to Violet Breden on Halloween.
Congratulations to first time grandparents, Terry and Joann Hausmann, their daughter, Sarah, and husband, Neil Thornton, welcomed a daughter, Clara Jo, on Oct. 24. Miss Clara weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz. I bet great-grandma, Clara Hausmaun, is sure smiling down on this blessing. Perfect name choice, Sarah and Neil.
