Winter has certainly reared its ugly face. On Friday evening, rain then changed to snow during the night. Here South of Brussels received barely an inch but as it traveled north the accumulation reached at least three inches. The high on Sunday was 32 and today is supposed to reach 36. Brussels Ferry was out for six days, but then started up on Saturday late afternoon, then back out on Sunday evening but in service this morning. Sure not much traffic by here with it not running. Weather man says we could have a temperature in the low 50’s on Tuesday but then by Thursday morning a low of five degrees. Weather is up and down like a roller coaster!
Congratulations to States Attorney Richard Ringhausen who is now officially retired after serving the county for nine years. On Friday he was honored with a party at the Rastello Room in Hardin. Present were the elected officials, county commissioners, Judge Burch and Judge Greenlief, his parents, brothers and spouses and his aunt Julie (and Larry) Bimslager. Best of luck to him in his retirement years!

Afterwards he opened his gifts and then they all enjoyed birthday cupcakes, etc. Many more “happy ones,” Lincoln.

In Honor of Martin Luther King Day
Heavenly Father, In your divine wisdom you have called us to be living witnesses to your truth, love and justice in the world. You give us the grace and strength to be instruments of your mercy and compassion. Today we remember your faithful servant Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. Dr. King taught us how to put the words of Jesus, Your Son, into action when he said “love your enemies, bless those who curse you and pray for those who persecute you.” Lord, give us this same courage to live by what we profess and believe, and to accept the teachings of Christ as your rule and guide. Amen
