There were people celebrating Valentine’s Day at the Fill Inn The steak special and getting out and about was enjoyed by the folks.
St. Mary’s School Chicken Dinner drive thru will be served at the American Legion Hall this Saturday night from 4-7 p.m. with a silent auction and raffle. The online auction and raffle continues on line until Sunday. A great meal, great prizes, and a raffle ticket with money.
Michael Stepanek and many other students attended the Band Concert at Jerseyville High School Sunday afternoon. Michael plays the saxophone. He is the son of Bob and Bonne Stepanek. The Star Wars theme and other show tunes were enjoyed by the audience. Other family attending were Carol Stepanek, Jeremy Russell, and daughter Sadie
Wilma Krysl enjoyed visiting with Cheryl Dodwell of Alton Sunday. A lunch and conversation highlighted the day.
St. Vincent DePaul helps with rent, utilities, GED, mortgage, and with other agencies. Call the volunteer hotline at 1-618-310-1141 for help.
Bernie and Robin Hillen visited Lindy and Martha Bick for supper on Sunday, and to watch the Super Bowl Game.
Verann Klockenkemper visited Ted and Elda Hayn Sunday, and went shopping in St. Louis Tuesday.
Linda Russell visited Steve and Cindy Meszaros, and Hayden Saturday.
The Batchtown Methodist Church has Bible Class every Wednesday morning at 9 p.m. Everyone is Welcome.
Mark and Megan Klaas of Bethalto traveled to Mount Crested Butte, Colorado this week with their children Andrew and Haley to go skiing in the mountains. Virgil and Angeline Klaas are taking care of their dog. Angeline calls him the “Grand” Dog. All are having a good time.
Happy Birthday wishes to Terry Klocke who celebrated his birthday on Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society is open for food and clothing on Wednesday and Thursday from 11 to 3 p.m.
The Seventh Grade Class of Calhoun Elementary School played at Bunker Hill on Jan. 29 and Calhoun won the Championship. This past Wednesday, Feb. 2, Calhoun played at Pawnee, IL for the Sectional Title and came in third. We are proud of the students and their accomplishments.
Eldon and Christine Johnes met Greg and Sarah Harding Sunday afternoon for dinner at Kathy’s Place in Eldred. They had a good meal and visit.
Anita Siemer and daughter, Laurie Friedl, visited Anita’s doctor in Herrin, IL this week. We wish you continued good health, Anita.
Carson Hillen celebrated her seventh birthday at home with her parents Tony and Hattie and brother, Kale, on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Grandparents, Bernie and Robin Hillen attended. Happy Birthday, Carson, have a wonderful year.
