It’s been great weather. The community is enjoying the fun of summer. The kids and their families have been enjoying ball games at the Franke Ball Park, and the new basketball court is being constructed in the Town Park.
The St. Barbara volunteers for the upcoming Batchtown Picnic worked hard and prepared the chicken for the dishes such as dressing, dumplings, chicken salad, and turtle soup. Makes us hungry just thinking about it. Everyone worked together to get the job done, and enjoyed a lunch together as it was completed.
The picnic schedule is now being planned with Saturday night being the traditional Turtle Soup, and Chicken Dinner being served buffet style on Sunday. More details will follow next week. The big raffle ticket for all three Blessed Trinity Churches, Batchtown St. Barbara’s, Meppen St. Joseph’s, and Brussels St. Mary’s is now available. Check at the churches, the church office, and with people selling tickets,
Roy and Helen Sievers had a family get together to celebrate Father’s Day with the kids and grandkids.
Nick Siener celebrated Father’s Day with his daughter Stacey and husband Larry Boist, and son Tim Siemer. They did yard work for their Dad and had a meal together too.
Linda Russell had family over this week. Jeremy, Angie, and daughters Zoe, and Sadie came Sat. and mowed the grass. Steve, and Cindy Mezarous and Hayden came Sunday to visit and to get outdoors on the farm.
Delmar and Barb Bick and their family took a trip to Montauk State Park from Wed. to Sun. They enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking outdoors, meals at the lodge and family time together
Irene Wallendorf enjoyed celebrating her birthday with her family Thursday, June 23. They had cake and ice cream together, and she received many nice presents from her loved ones.
Wilma Krysl will celebrate her 93rd birthday on July 6 and would enjoy getting cards to help her celebrate. Her address is PO Box 25, Batchtown 62006,
The community is saddened by the passing of Mark Brangenberg of Kampsville. Our thoughts are with his wife Melinda, and children Bethany and Steven. He will be remembered and missed.
We are glad to report that Ellen Klocke is improving and feeling better. Take care Ellen.
Kenny and Bette Eilerman had their kids home over the weekend helping in the gardens and visiting.
Ben and Amy Schatzle celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 25. We wish them many more happy years together.
Congratulations to the Golden Eagle Youth Trap team for a very successful weekend at the Illinois State Shoot in Bunker Hill.
Mark and Rachel Heffington and family went to a Cardinal Cubs baseball game Sunday and had a good time.
Linda and Marcy Klockenkemper and many others attended the music of Steve Kirn of St. Charles at the Waterfront in Hardin by the Harmon Park. It was a pleasant evening with a variety of tunes that many there knew and enjoyed. We hope to have future events soon.

The Jamboree presented by the Calhoun Entertainment Co. will be performed at the St. Anselm’s Building in Kampsville on July 10 at 2 P.M. Plan on attending and enjoy your day, Tickets are $15 for singles, and $25 for couples.
The Batchtown Methodist Church has a Bible Study on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
