Registration for the baby contest at the Griggsville Apple Festival will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Sept. 17 at the stage in the mini park uptown. You may pre-register by Facebook messaging Bethany Dunham. Contest will begin at 10:30. Cost is $1. Babies must be between 0-24 months old. There will be different categories for all babies but the overall boy and girl baby must live in the original Griggsville school district.
The cake and cookie basket auction will be held Saturday evening, Sept, 17 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
All past Little Mr and Miss Royalty will be honored onstage at the Griggsville Apple Festival Friday, Sept. 16 at 7:20 p.m. Please meet at the stage and bring a note card with you telling a little bit about yourself to be read onstage.

Don’t forget to wrap up your Apple Festival weekend by attending Sunday morning services at the stage as we worship with Riven. Services begin at 11.
Our community is so deeply saddened at the lost of Danny Lister who passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31. What a wonderful personality Dan had! He will be sorely missed in our community.
Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger traveled to Rushville Monday evening, Sept. 5, to watch their grandson, Brady Downs play football for the Rushville Rockets.
Dena Stinebaker moved her grandmother, Bonnie Fish into Griggsville Estates last week. Bonnie quickly adjusted and is having fun making new friends!
Congratulations to Hunter Stecker who drove in his first demo derby Monday, Sept. 5 . Hunter didn’t win but I hear he had a pretty good time!
Sympathy is extended to the family of Dora Zumwalt who passed away Aug. 28 at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Dora was born in Griggsville and was responsible for years of the beautifully decorated stage at our Apple Festival.
Steve Fox spend a couple of days in Eureka, visiting Jason, Cari and Carson Gold, and watching his grandson Carson play in a high school football game.
We also extend our sympathy to the family of Matt Mowen who passed away last Wednesday, Aug. 31. Matt was a graduate of Perry High School in the Class of 1993.
Congratulations to Cathy McDaniel whose grandson, Ryder Kirgan, was chosen as Pittsfield Baby Boy at the Pittsfield Fall Festival! Ryder’s parents are Matt and Rachel Kirgan. Ryder also won the ‘Prettiest Smile’ award.

Congratulations to Linda Brawdy on the birth of her first granddaughter! Hadleigh Ann Brawdy was born Aug. 23 and weighed 5 lbs. and 8 oz. Her parents are Josh Brawdy and Shay Black-Moller. Other grandparents are Robert and Ann Black of South Carolina. Also welcoming Hadleigh is her big brother, Hayden Moller.
Also sharing bragging rights on the birth of Hadleigh Brawdy is Angie Brawdy who is an aunt for the first time!

Eric Shoemaker stayed at the home of Tim and Loretta Butler for a few nights last week. Friday, they hosted a birthday/going away party for Eric, as he has taken a job in Alaska and will be there for six months. Those stopping in for refreshments and to visit were Grant, Lucinda, Sean and Camryn Hoehne, Juanita Cremeans, Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger, Jeannie Kessinger, Vicki Norris, Thelma Butler, Peggy Stanley, Rich Stanley, and Rhonda Lash.
Frosty White is back home after spending several days in the hospital. Welcome back to Pike, Frosty and glad you got all tuned up!
We extend our sympathy to the family of Lynda Lawber who passed away Sunday, Sept. 4 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
The main building at Lynch Livestock on the north edge of Griggsville was totally destroyed by fire early Monday morning. Fire departments from Griggsville, North Pike, Pittsfield, Baylis, and East Pike fought the fire and was able to save the second building. ‘Thank you’ never seems to be enough for the efforts of those who volunteer their time (and sometimes roll out of a comfy bed) to assist in various emergencies!
Eric Shoemaker and Loretta Butler visited Richard and Barb Liehr and although Betty was bone to the doctor, they were able to visit David Shoemaker in Perry last Thursday.
Emily Brown and daughter Brianna, Marvin Lynch, Vicki Norris, and Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger attended the White Coat Ceremony at Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo. to watch Brooklynn Brown receive her white coat. Brooklynn is now a student of Logan University’s Doctor of Chiropractic program. Congratulations, Brooklynn!
Steve and Jeannie Kessinger hosted lunch Sunday for Cory, Kyra, Ellie and Emmet Koltveit, Lexi Kessinger, and Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger. After lunch, they celebrated the birthdays of Ellie and her Grandma Jeannie. Ellie is a very proud four year old now!
Belated birthday wishes go out to Margaret Hudelson of Perry who celebrated her 91st birthday Sept. 12!
