What a gorgeous weekend for one of our favorite weekends here in Kampsville.
Old Settlers Days 2022 did not disappoint. Record crowds turned out to enjoy all there was here to offer. Delicious food, crafts, and demonstrations as well as amazing entertainment by Back in the Saddle.
Calhoun Royalty Miss Calhoun Lucy Kallal, Jr. Miss Caroline Adams and Little Miss Karson Hillen assisted with the opening ceremony and National Anthem on Saturday and Kampsville Royalty Little Miss Lauren Pohlman and Baby Kampsville GraceLynn Mapp assisted on Sunday. Event organizer, Barb Snyders, treated them all to kettle corn and homemade root beer.
The truck full of cookies raffled by St. John’s Lutheran Church was won by Lindsey Taul.
It was a great weekend to enjoy catching up with friends.
Thank you to Barb and Dave Snyders and all who assist with making this wonderful weekend happen.
Also, a huge shoutout to our awesome ferry guys for always working so hard to keep the traffic moving in and out.
Thank you to all who bought chances on our quilt to benefit our Kids Christmas Party. We will be drawing for it on Oct. 23 at our Trunk or Treat/Halloween Party.
We are still needing trunks for our trunk or treat. Please send me a message or give me a call. We will also need treats for the treat walk. There will be a lot of baskets for the basket raffle.
Don’t forget, it’s almost Scarecrow Contest time. Get signed up with Glenda Sidwell. There are already some cute ones popping up around town.
Hardin American Legion Auxiliary had a very successful Fall Apple Pie Baking, selling 376 pies. Thank you everyone who helped with making the pies and purchased pies. The money raised will buy Christmas gifts for Veterans and residents at the Calhoun Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mayor Wade and James hosted their annual family pumpkin carving on Sunday afternoon at their house for all of their grandkids. A great time was had by all.
St. Norbert’s students enjoyed the Blessing of the Pets on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of dogs, kitties, a turtle and a guinea pig all were blessed by Father Roberts.
Another beautiful weekend for weddings.
Congratulations Lucas and Kyleigh (Nelson) Fanning who were married Saturday at Lucas’s family farm.
Congratulations also to Abby Klunk and Hanna McKinnon who were married Saturday afternoon also.
