While the going is good in our area (no icy roads or a blizzard), get out of the house and do things and go places. Happenings in Our Area:
A Community Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Griggsville United Methodist Church, at 7 p.m, Sunday, Nov. 20. Pastor Bob Willis of the Griggsville Church of the Nazarene will be the speaker that evening. Music will be provided by Christine Henthorn and everyone is welcome to attend this time of thanksgiving.
Starting Wednesday Nov. 30 and running for the next three Wednesdays, through Dec. 21, The Bright Star Parish is having a Bible Study on John the Baptist and the season of Advent. The study will be based on Adam Hamilton’s Book “Prepare the Way For the Lord.” The Bible study will be for four weeks, at the Griggsville United Methodist Church and will start at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and can be attended in person or by Zoom.
Saturday, Dec. 17, in the town of New Salem, there is to be a Meet and Greet Santa Claus Lighted Parade. All kids and parents are welcome to come. Everyone is to meet at 6 p.m. at the park north of New Salem (the park is located farthest from the main town of New Salem going towards Baylis). There will be prizes to giveaway and a cookie decorating contest. All ages of kids are welcome. This is hosted by Gloria Castleberry, and anyone with questions can call her at 1-217-491-7239.
I have been trying to check which restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day. So far I know All Saints Avenue in Hannibal will be open 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.
Ongoing activities:
Free exercise class at the Findley Place in Pittsfield every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30-11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Classes offered at the Pike County Senior Center in Pittsfield, and they are: Bootkickers lessons are every Monday night; Zumba class is every Tuesday night; and Yoga is every Wednesday night. Anyone interested in any of these, please call the Center for more details at 217-285-4969.

There was a good crowd that attended the Detroit Christian Church’s Thanksgiving meal at the Pike County Senior Center Saturday evening, Nov. 12th.
