The big news in Kampsville and everywhere this week was the cold temperatures and winds! We felt more like we were living at the North Pole instead of Kampsville. The river has frozen and of course that shuts down our Kampsville Ferry. We also wouldn’t want our awesome guys out working in this.
Cold temperatures canceled the Queen of Hearts at the Legion Friday night– for the safety of their bartender and all of their patrons– but things will be back to normal by next Friday, so stop in and get your tickets bought and if you pop in on Friday evening you can get you a delicious Virginia Becker dessert.
Mark your calendars to show off your knowledge. On Friday, Jan. 6, Calhoun Lady Warriors Basketball Trivia Night will be hosted at Straight Home. Get your team together for a night of fun.
Congratulations to Dylan and Merideth Ringhausen on the birth of their son, Kenneth Charles, weighing 7lbs. and 14 oz. born on Dec. 22.
Thank you to Terry, Amy and Teresa at The Landing for their generous donation to the Kampsville Kids Christmas Party.
Sympathy to the Kallal family on the loss of Lisa’s Mom, Doris. Grandma Doris was a much loved grandma, not only to Molly, Tony, Lucy and Charlie and Collette, but also to all of their friends. Definitely a wonderful sweetheart of a lady.
Sympathy to the Shelly Pohlman family. Shelly was absolutely a bright shining light– always upbeat and smiling. I’ve known her my whole life. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her without a smile. She was an avid supporter of the Calhoun Warriors and an inspiration to all. We were both on the high school band Disney trip a few years ago. We ended up watching the end of the night parade with her and her daughter, Sarah. She took the most amazing pictures of my granddaughter and gave them to me after the trip. Please keep her husband, Darren; daughter, Sarah; parents, Roger and MaryAnn; and her much loved niece, Anystin, in your prayers and continue prayers for Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Amy Roth, Joyce Blumenberg, Darren Kress, Zel Blumenberg and Linda Herkert.
Apologies for such a short column. But I’ve had a houseful for the holidays, as I love and wouldn’t have it any other way. Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
