Monday, Jan. 15, was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, an important Day in American history.
The mid-January weather is a little warmer and sunnier, much better than the bitter cold of the last few weeks. Better yet, the days are getting longer.
The St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Pantry and Clothing Store at 105 French St. in Hardin will be changing its time and hours from being open two days a week to one day a week. This change will happen Feb.1. The Pantry will be open one day only beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Pantry Office Manager is Robin Hillen and the phone number is 618-576-2500.
The Methodist Church in Batchtown has Bible Class every Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
Happy Wedding Anniversary to Eldon and Christine Johnes who celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday, Jan. 19. We wish you a happy day and many more wonderful years together.
Birthday greetings to Dennis Stumpf and Erica Hayman who celebrated her birthday on Monday, Jan. 16. We wish you both a very happy day and a great new year.
Eldon and Christine Johnes entertained family and friends at their home on Saturday Sarah Harding, and Tim and Kathy Eason were there and had a good time.
Bernie and Robin Hillen butchered over the weekend. Their sons, Travis, Justin, Mark, Luke, and Tony and their families helped get the job done

Vera Klockenkemper visited Ted and Elda Hayn on Sunday afternoon at their home in Kampsville.
Kenny and Bette Eilerman butchered this past weekend. Their sons and daughter, and their families were all there to help out.
Irene Wallendorf and friends have a Pinochle Party together at her home every Friday. I hear a good time was had by all.
