The wind was pretty bad Friday night, but luckily it didn’t do too much damage to our little town.
This Saturday afternoon, April 8, bring the kids to Kampsville for the annual St. John’s Lutheran Easter Egg Hunt. This is a long-standing Easter tradition in Kampsville and has been going on longer than I actually know. I moved to Kampsville in 1986 and it was a tradition then. At that time, it was headed up by my dear friend, Peg Sibley. In 2001 Peg passed away and I took over heading up the event in 2002. Please join us for refreshments, prizes and fellowship.
Congratulations to all the kids from St. Francis of Assisi Parish and St. Mary’s who made their First Communion and Confirmation this past Saturday at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Springfield.
The Sons of the Kampsville American Legion would like to thank everyone who came out to show their support the past four weeks at their Sunday Meat Shoots. The Sons of the Legion are an amazing organization that gives so much back to our community.
The Calhoun County Fair will be hosting their second annual “Princess Tea Party” on April 15 at St. Anselm’s Hall. Queen Lucy, Princess Caroline and Princess Karson will be hosting. All proceeds benefit the Calhoun County Fair. Must be signed up by April 10.
The Calhoun Elementary School/Junior High School PTO is hosting a summer reading program for Calhoun students, called, “Stories in the Park,” including a mobile giving library that will allow kids to expand their own libraries. They would love your help. Drop off new or previously loved books at the Calhoun Elementary/Jr. High office through May 22.
Don’t forget the Betty Grissom Benefit on May 13 at Tucker’s Pub. Anyone wanting to donate a basket or raffle item, please contact Barb Bailey.
Stephanie Doerr was the guest of honor on Saturday at a bridal shower held at the Illinois Riverdock. Stephanie will be marrying Bryan Charelton on April 22.
Happy 45th Anniversary to Mike and Becky Weber on March 31.
Happy Birthday to Lindsey Taul, Aaron Tucker and Marcella Becker who all celebrate their birthdays on April 1.
Please continue prayers this week for Linda Herkert, Zel Blumenberg, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Bob Banghart, Bruce Williams, Justin Williams, Whitney Gibson, Joyce Blumenberg, Connor Gilman and Cassie Blackwell.
Happy Easter to all my readers– from my family to yours!
