Middle School Art Show a success
According to www.history.com, the official Mother’s Day holiday arose in the 1900’s as a result of the efforts of Anna Jarvis, daughter of Ann Reeves Jarvis. Following her mother’s 1905 death, Anna started Mother’s Day to honor the sacrifices mothers made for their children. How do you plan to celebrate your mother, or her memory, this Sunday?
If you haven’t noticed the banners at the tops of the light poles in uptown Griggsville, you should check them out. They add a little pop of color as warmer temps and summer months quickly approach! Thank you, City of Griggsville!
Teachers in the GP School District were treated to a special lunch for National Teacher’s Day last week, courtesy of Griggsville’s newest Country Financial agent, Brad Lipcaman! Welcome to Griggsville, Brad, and thanks for appreciating our local teachers!
Congratulations to all who entered original artwork in the 2023 GP Middle School Art Show! Top winners included: Best of Show awarded to Natalie Deplae; Students’ Choice awarded to Casen Shoemaker; Principal’s Choice awarded to Emily Lemons; Judge’s Choice awarded to Casen Shoemaker. There were numerous ribbon winners and Honorable Mentions as well. Great job to all of GP’s artists!
Congratulations to these GPHS FFA chapter members on achieving the following last week: Jack Shoemaker elected as 2023-2024 Section 13 Sentinel; Raylynn White competed at the District Creed Speaking Contest; Lexi Lipcaman placed 16th in State in Carpentry; Jack Shoemaker placed 5th in State in Ag Power. Excellent job!
Sympathy is extended to the family of John McLaughlin on his passing. Mr. McLaughlin was very active in the community in a variety of ways for many years. A full obituary can be read at www.nieburfh.com.
Be sure to mark your calendars for the Pike County Veterinary Clinic Open House May 12 from 3pm-7pm. Those attending the open house will be able to tour the new clinic. Sugar & Smoke will also be on site grilling pork chops and burgers between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. courtesy of the vet clinic. The address for this event is 12 E. Industrial Drive in Pittsfield.
The Perry Methodist Church Vacation Bible School will be held June 12-15 from 9 a.m.-11a.m. in the Perry Park. Anyone interested in helping with this event may contact Barb Webel at 217-430-3160.
The Mt. Sterling YMCA will be hosting Summer Day Camp soon! Check their website for cost and registration information at www.mtsterlingymca.net/register, or call 217-773-2230. This event is open to Griggsville and Perry families!
