Do not forget ‘Back to Dexter Days’ Saturday, Sept. 9
The Griggsville Apple Festival will be here soon! This years’ theme is “Sound the Alarm – We Love Our Hometown Heroes!” Half of the festival’s 50/50 Raffle will be going to the Griggsville Volunteer Fire Department this year. The fire department is hoping to replace its 15- year old turnout gear. The cost for one set of turnout gear is over $4,000 and includes pants, coat, boots, gloves, and helmet. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase beginning Friday night of the festival through Saturday night and are $5 per ticket. Let’s get our volunteer firefighters equipped with new gear!
You can see all of this years’ information and events on the Griggsville Apple Festival Facebook page. Festival books will be out in local businesses soon. Parade float, kiddie parade entry, cake and cookie auction entry, apple pie baking contest…how would you like to be involved?
Both the high school and junior high branches of the GP FFA Chapter headed to the Farm Progress Show last Friday. In total, 36 chapter members and their sponsor, Mrs. Scranton, attended the show. Everyone was able to attend free of charge due to the generosity of the following individuals and businesses: Max Steinbaker, Matt Bradshaw, Prairieland FS and Marlee Jo Schultz/Whitetail Properties. What a great agricultural learning opportunity for the kiddos at GP!
Help support the renovation of the Dexter School by attending “Back to Dexter Day” Sept. 9. There will be a potluck lunch at noon in the yard (bring a lawn chair) followed by a short program with some Dexter history and a “down home” auction. All are welcome!
