The cool air and sunny afternoons give us a chance to get outdoors before the early dark evenings come.
Football season is over. We await the upcoming games of basketball.
Landon Sievers has taken the title of the American trapshooting Champ. Landon earned this honor through a competition consisting of 1000 targets shot upon 3 different events. During the competition Landon shot a 988/1000 as a total for the reading score by one bird.
Landon is the 18-year-old son of Chad and Stephanie Sievers and began trap shooting when he was in third grade. He is the grandson of Jerry and Heidi Rose Siemer of Batchtown, and Pat and Gina Sievers of Meppen. We are all proud of Landon’s accomplishments.
Landon is a college freshman at Lindenwood University in St Charles, Mo. and has picked up his first sponsor, Jeremy Weller with Busted Clays Trap and Reloading. Landon plans to go back and help coach the young kids at Golden Eagle where he got his start. Congratulations Landon and good luck in school, and in all the things you are doing.
Robin Hillen and her mother, Mary Ann Bailey, attended Kim Klaas LLA Dance Company. Her dance studio is in Hardin.
The Recital was held at Lewis and Clark College in Godfrey. The students that Robin and Mary Ann went to see were: Hellen, Sylvie, and Lennox Hillen. There were many other students participating from Calhoun. They all enjoyed the day.
Bernie Hillen celebrated his birthday Sunday, Nov. 12, at home with Robin and the family, Lindy, Martha and Katie, Justin, Abner, and Franci, and Jamie and Jordan. Have a happy year Bernie.
St. Norbert’s School Ladies Night is coming up this Friday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. at the KC Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m. Local vendors will be there to show their items, and great buys for the holidays. Refreshments are chicken and dumplings, chili, desserts and drinks. Mark your calendar.
The Cornerstone Church in Batchtown has a Bible Class every Wednesday morning starting at 9 a.m. Everyone is welcome.
A video about Mary unveils the mystery of Our Lady that is woven into the fabric of sacred scripture. It will be played at St. Assisi’s Office Wed., Nov. 15 and 22 from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Jordan Hartle, age 7, is taking training on how to ride a horse. She takes classes in St. Charles. She is the daughter of Billy and Keisha Hartle.
Linda Russell’s weekend company were Jeremy and Angie Russell and daughter Sadie on Friday, and Steve and Cindy and Hayden on Sunday. They all got outdoors and enjoyed the warm weather
Elaine Titus and Karen Hanneken returned home from a trip to Branson. While there they saw Queen Esther at the Sight and Sound Theater, took a trolley ride to see all the beautiful Christmas lights and enjoyed a show.
. The Entertainment Company, under the direction of Jerry Sievers, are getting ready for their Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Hardin. A youth choir is joining the regular choir this year. It is always a joyful time with festive music to get us in the Christmas spirit. Refreshments and a good well offering follow the performance.
Greg and Lauren Eilerman’s son Aiden will be 8 on Nov.16. He is looking forward to his birthday with his brothers, Asher, and Abbott, and sister Addie. Have a fun year Aiden.
Conner Lumpkin will be 6 years old on his birthday, Nov. 18. He is the son of Bryan and Lisa Lumpkin. His sister, Madison, and brother, Carter, will celebrate with him on his happy day. Have a great year Conner.
St. Vincent DePaul helps with rent, utilities, mortgage, GED, and help with other agencies. Call the volunteer hotline at 1-618-310-1141 for assistance.
The St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry and Clothing Store is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on the fifth Wednesday in months with fifth Wednesday.
Verann Klockenkemper enjoyed a visit with her nieces Tammy and Tonya last week.
