Branson, Mo. trip: The Chambersburg Senior Saints, led by Terri and Steve Smith, joined by Travel Planners Carla and Steve Ingram, hosted a wonderful bus trip to Branson. Everyone was picked up at various locations the morning of Monday, Nov. 6, on the way to Branson. A late lunch was enjoyed at Lamberts, home of the throwed rolls, where if you left there hungry, that was your own fault. Each person orders from a menu what meal they want plus all through the restaurant, workers carrying large pans of different sides such as black eyed peas, fried okra, and macaroni and tomatoes, were offered at each table with a healthy spoon of these sides. Arriving in Branson in the afternoon and getting settled in our motel rooms was next on the agenda.
That evening the first show we saw was Dean Z, who by his attire and actions and voice was the best Elvis impersonator I have ever seen. He, along with his band, provided a most enjoyable show. Tuesday, Nov. 7, was an extremely busy day, but that’s to be expected, if we were to see all the shows we saw in just a few days’ time. The first show of the day was Down Home Country where there was lots of music and the very best comedian out there. He made the show. In the same building as Down Home Country, there was a restaurant grand country buffet which provided a delicious lunch. I personally enjoyed their meatloaf. After lunch, our two buses of people found us at the family show The Duttons. What a talented family! That evening we went to the production of Queen Esther at the Sight and Sound Theater where I can not put into words what an awesome, magnificent production this was. I was told that this building could hold 2,000 people, and I believe that evening came very close. I believe we had the best seats in the house to be able to see everything going on which means we were way up in the upper story.
Day 3, Wednesday, everyone enjoyed a lunch of delicious foods at Paula Deen’s Restaurant, where the lunch was served family style. That afternoon, we ventured over to another family show The Haygoods. This family had so much energy that besides being musically talented, they were very daring and very much in shape. A person didn’t dare look away because you could have easily missed something. We enjoyed American Top Country Hits that evening and heard some of the very best singers out there. Day 4, Nov. 9, found both buses heading back home, and as far as I know, all arrived safely back to their destinations.
Among the tour bus for the Chambersburg Senior Saints, cousins Sharon Straus of Philadelphia, Missouri, and Wyvetta Davis of New Salem, were two of its passengers. We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and highly recommend to others to sign up for one of these bus tours where for the price paid, you get your motel room, some of the meals, all of the shows, and transportation provided. Meeting new people and making lifelong memories are just two of the benefits.

May every sunset bring you peace.”
