G-P homecoming is this weekl decorate your home or business
The College and Career Capstone Day for the third quarter at GP was held last Wednesday. Students participated in mock interviews conducted by local community leaders. The school is fortunate to have good relationships with our local business leaders who take the time to volunteer with GP’s students. Thanks to all involved with this program!
GP Seniors Lane and Wyatt Lipcaman were recognized by the Pike County Rotary Club last week. Way to represent GPHS, Lane and Wyatt!
Junior and Senior members of GP’s FFA Chapter spent some time at Sloan Implement in Perry last Thursday to get an idea of what this ag-related business does. Sloan employees shared information on what training, job opportunities, and incentives they have, as well as what they look for in employees. Thank you, Sloan Implement!
The Tornado cheerleaders are hosting the first annual GPHS Homecoming Community Decorating Contest! The Homecoming theme this year is “Enchantment Under the Sea.” This contest is open to any Griggsville or Perry residence or business. Decorate your porch or storefront in the theme, fill out the entry form located on the school’s Facebook page, prepare for your entry to be judged Feb. 8! Have fun!
Tornado basketball snagged first place in the Triopia Tournament this past Saturday with a 36-22 win over Beardstown. Congratulations to Coach White and his team, as well as to Lane Lipcaman, Michael Myers and Wyatt Lipcaman on earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team!
Eagle seventh grade basketball ended their season in regional play against Southeastern last Wednesday evening. Mason Lipcaman was awarded the Sportsmanship Award after the game. Great season, Eagles, and excellent job, Mason!
Eagle seventh grade volleyball also earned first place in the Pleasant Hill Tournament Saturday. Way to go, Coach Evans and team!
The 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Larry and Nancy Kunzeman has been rescheduled to Feb. 4 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Winchester (125 W. Jefferson St.). Stop in and wish them a Happy 50th!
The Mt. Sterling Community Center YMCA will be hosting two events coming up in February.
Kids Night Out (KNO) followed by Middle School Madness (MSM) will be held Feb. 3 This will be an after-hours party at the Y filled with games, snacks, and activities! KNO will be 4 p.m. – p.m and MSM 7 p.m. – 10p.m.
The Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Ball at The Y will be Feb. 10. Join us to celebrate an enchanted evening with your young lady. Enjoy desserts, dancing, music, and photo opportunities. All ages are welcome. Ladies may be escorted by Dad, Stepdad, Grandpa, Uncle, or any other special person who fits the role. The Ball will be from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.. These events are open to Griggsville and Perry families. To register for any of these events, visit the YMCA website at mtsterlingymca.net/register.
