Many enjoy G-P Homecoming tours, game and coronation

The Valentine’s Day tradition of giving a box of candy was started in the 19th century by Richard Cadbury, a scion of a British chocolate manufacturing family. With a new technique recently established at the company to create more varieties of chocolate, Cadbury pounced on the opportunity to sell the chocolates as part of the beloved holiday. Dewayne and Nadine Kessinger hosted a birthday party at their home in honor of Thelma Butler’s 91st birthday Sunday. Others helping Thelma celebrate were Tim and Loretta Butler, Vicki Norris, Emily, Brooklynn, Brianna, Braden, and Bryan Brown, Marvin Lynch, Ryan, Allison, and Hudson Cooley, Steve and Jeannie Kessinger, T.J. Kessinger, and Jeff and Shannon Butler. Thelma celebrated on her birthday (Jan. 27) with cupcakes at Griggsville Estates.
Coach Kenny Stauffer would like to thank all of those who reached out to him in the past couple of weeks as he’s been recovery from some health issues. He appreciates everyone taking the time to check in on him. We’re glad you’re on the mend, Coach!
Congratulations to the eighth grade Eagle basketball team on a great season that included an appearance at State. GP player, Logan Sidwell, also earned the IESA Sportsmanship Award at the sectional game! Great work by the entire team and Logan!
Eagle eighth grade player, Kason Brown, has been selected to play in the All-State Classic basketball game for the second year in a row. Way to work, Kason!
Congratulations to GPHS Homecoming Royalty, King Michael Myers, son of Steven and Lori Myers, and Queen Nathalie Irvin, daughter of Amanda Irvin and granddaughter of Albert and Vickie Irvin! The late Zack Thomas, son of Chuck and Charlotte Thomas, was named Honorary King. A full day of events was enjoyed by many last Saturday at the school. Thanks to all who stopped in to celebrate its 100th birthday and to all who played a part in helping make the day so special. The Tornado basketball team ended the afternoon with a Homecoming win over Springfield Lutheran, 67-15!
Griggsville-Perry Summer League 2024 registrations are now open! Go to the League’s Facebook page to go to the link to sign up your player by March 18.
The Mt. Sterling YMCA will host Giggle & Wiggle Toddler Open Gym Feb. 23. This event will feature gross motor equipment especially designed for the littlest members and friends! The open gym will be held from 9 a.m.-11a.m. and is for ages birth-Pre-K. Stop at the Welcome Desk to sign in upon arrival! Giggle & Wiggle is open to both Griggsville and Perry families.
