What a beautiful weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day. I pray everyone got together to celebrate the day. Sounds like rain is on the way now for Monday and Tuesday. All the crops are looking great at this time.
I left after lunch on Saturday and drove to Chesterfield, MO to spend the weekend with my daughter, son-in-law and family. That evening Trevor, Cyndi and MacKenzie Axford and I joined other family members at El Maguey Mexican Restaurant. Joining us was Dennis and Shelly Scherer of Wright City, David and Madison (Axford) Morrow of Chesterfield, Ashley Kirn, Noah and Adelaide of Wentzville and her friend Ben Ketcherside and daughters Jamie and Joanie of Warrenton. We all enjoyed the delicious Mexican food, with a Margarita of course. Missing were John, Julie and Caleb Carnes of Edwardsville who spent the weekend in Lake of the Ozarks. Didn’t seem quite right without the entire family together. Also missing were Daniel, Brittney and Sam Holdinghausen of Festus who were unable to attend due to sickness. Hopefully the next family get together everyone will be present.
On Sunday morning the Axford’s and I attended church services at Our Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Chesterfield. Afterwards we were joined by David and Madison Morrow and we all enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Cyndi and MacKenzie. Enjoyed visiting afterwards with all the family and later in the day I returned home. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful weekend and all the fantastic Mother’s Day gifts from everyone.
The family of Marietta Nolte accompanied her to The Fill In Restaurant in Batchtown on Sunday for a wonderful Mother’s Day breakfast. Present were Rod and Margaret Nolte of Golden Eagle, along with their daughter Mandy and son-in-law Mike, and granddaughters Hope and Emily, Cliff and Yvonne Nolte, their son Brandon and daughter-in-law Ashley and son Cooper. This was followed by a wonderful visit afterwards.
The family of Yvonne Baecht of Golden Eagle were home for Mother’s Day bringing all the food and giving Yvonne a break for the day. Present were Daniel and Leann Baecht and Connor of Brookline, MO, Keith and Becky Baecht and sons Matthew and Samuel of Jerseyville and Matt and Lynette Eberhardt of Chenoa, IL. Daniel and Connor supplied the fish and fried it while Becky Baecht brought the rest of the meal. I’m sure Yvonne certainly enjoyed the day with her family.
Laurie and Ed Lehr of Godfrey hosted Mother’s Day at their home on Sunday. Present were her parents Larry and Marcia Hattemar of Brussels, Alan and Kathy Friedel of Golden Eagle and Tyler Friedel and Corgi “Calvin” of Maryville. They all enjoyed the delicious meal prepared by Laurie and Ed, followed by a wonderful afternoon of visiting. Tyler’s wife, Adrianna, spent the day with her parents Dan and Julie Eberlin and family in Golden Eagle.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY OF PENTECOST
(Sunday, May 19)
Lord Jesus, You have established Your church on earth to deliver Your gifts of forgiveness, life and salvation. Be with us this Pentecost, that we may joyfully receive Your gifts and remember who You have made us. Help us support the work of evangelism, both in our community and throughout the world so that more may hear Your Word, be brought to repentance and faith, and receive the gift of Your salvation. Amen
