We are busy planning a fantastic Kampsville Summer Celebration Saturday, August 17, the festivities kick off at 3 p.m. with our parade. Message or call me 618-535-5915 if you would like to sign your Baby, Toddler, Little Miss or Mr. up for the pageants. Get ahold of Debby Klunk for Vendor information. Lindsey Taul for parade. If you would like to donate towards trophies for the kids, games or a basket to be raffled off. Please let me know. The kids love participating in cookie stacking, cookie eating, watermelon and hula hoop contest and they love the trophies. We appreciate all donations. We will also be selling chances on the farm quilt made by Diana Young and the poppy quilt made by Pat Gotway. We also have the Center for American archaeology yeti cooler raffle, which will be drawn on the 17th.
Terrill Mosbarger hosted a fun cook out in honor of Bev Saturday afternoon as a cancer free and late birthday celebration. Her birthday was actually leap year, but she was taking treatments then and couldn’t celebrate . Lots of family and friends came out, around 80 in attendance. Those Schumann cousins always know how to have a good time. Lots of laughter and fun. We are so excited to be able to celebrate this. Bev is a fighter and a great lady.
Don’t forget about the Raft Race this coming Saturday on the Hardin Riverfront. It’s always great when we have fun events right here in the county.
Thank you Bob Gardner and the Legion guys for getting the flags put up on the utility poles.
Queen of Hearts at the Legion is still being searched for. Get those tickets.
Dave Dexheimer was the winner of the Stars and Stripes Sizzle Giveaway BlackStone Grill at Dick’s Riverside.
My sister Billie Jo and I enjoyed lunch Saturday afternoon on the patio at “Pirates of the Mississippi.” It was very nice. The Mississippi River is really on the rise. The Golden Eagle ferry was forced to shut down Friday evening and now they are running the Winfield.
The Village of Brussels had a very nice Celebration for Independence Day on July 3.
Happy Birthday to Mark Becker on July 3 and Happy 89 Birthday to Mary Ann Bailey on July 5.
My granddaughter Chloe Angelo won first place this past week at Star Power Dance Nationals at the Wisconsin Dells.
Don’t forget about the road closure detour on Poor Farm Hollow Road beginning July 8 – August 10. This is a much-needed improvement and we will all be happy when school starts and that road is wider. Hardin Lions Club Fitness Center (Bells Gym) will be accessible and open. Access to the gym will be in front of the football field through the fairgrounds.
Many people attended the Celebration of Life for Scotty Browning Sunday afternoon at the KC Hall in Hardin. Patrick Simon and Jerry Sievers both did a wonderful job speaking about him. Please continue to pray for Pam and his family.
Terry Taul passed away July 4 at his home. Terry or Grandpa Terry as we called him and I shared grandchildren. So we usually spent time together every year at St. Norbert’s grandparents day and over the years at birthday parties and even a vacation. If you attended St. Norberts or St. Anselm and Terry was there, you know that he knew his Hymns and proudly sang them with a wonderful voice . He was also an amazing cook and very involved in his church and community. During the 2019 flood he worked hard sandbagging our village and he will be missed. Please keep his children Andrew, Scott, Chris, Jenny and Sherry in your prayers as well as his grandchildren as they deal with the loss of their beloved Grandpa Terry, and continue prayers for Kathryn Chapman, Luann Baalman, Billie Jo Eickmeyer, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Kurt Roth, Kiera Sievers, Linda Herkert, Joyce Blumenberg, Christian Rojas, Terese Gerson, Diane Rose, Sue Aderton, Brenda Smith, Connor Gilman, Margie Smith, Cassie Blackwell and Stella Schultz.
