Enjoy the hard work of the Apple Festival Committee this weekend
The Griggsville Community Park District Board would like to thank the community for their help with the recent park surveys. Over 800 responses were turned in! A big shout out to Molly Shoemaker for collecting the GP Middle School surveys; Susan Clough for collecting the Griggsville School surveys; Candy at Griggsville City Hall; and Kimber and Haley at North Pike District Library for all their help. The community’s support has been amazing. The Park Board won’t know until early next year if they will be getting the grant, but it’s looking good.
Congratulations to GP Tornado volleyball player, Josie Bradshaw, on her selection to the All-Tournament Team at the Meredosia Volleyball Tournament! Good work, Josie!
Also, congratulations to GP’s Eagle baseball team on earning the Morgan County Conference Champion title. The Eagles went 4-0 in the Conference for the 2024 season. Way to work, Gentlemen!
The GHS Class of ’65 will be gathering to eat on the square at the Apple Festival, Saturday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. Cleve Curry would invites all class members to attend and enjoy each other’s company!
GP’s PTO is sponsoring the “GP Birthday Box” in the Griggsville school building office. Occasionally, elementary students are unable to bring treats to celebrate their birthday with classmates. Items donated to the birthday box will help give everyone a chance to celebrate their birthday with their classmates! If you’d like to contribute to the birthday box, PTO accepts store-bought, individually wrapped treats, juice boxes, plates and napkins. Happy Birthday to all!
The GP Junior Class After Prom parents are looking for vendors who would like to sell their items at the GP Extravaganza that will be held Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Junior Class’s Elementary Basketball Showdown. If you have food, Mary Kay, Avon, clothing, crafts, Scentsy, candles, etc. to sell and want to help the Junior Class After Prom parents raise money for After Prom, contact Alicia Evans for details at 217-833-2352 or [email protected]
The GHS Class of 1974’s 50th reunion scheduled for Sept. 21 at 6:30pm will now be held in the beer garden at Rumors Have It on the south side of the square. Please let Shelia Slight know if you plan to attend.
I invite everyone to the Griggsville Apple Festival this weekend! The festival committee has been working hard since March to plan the events that are scheduled for Friday and Saturday on the square in Griggsville. A community church service will be held Sunday at the Griggsville Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m. This weekend is a great time to gather and visit with old and new acquaintances and we hope to see you all there. And remember…there is always room at the planning table if anyone has interest in joining the festival committee. We are simply a group of volunteers who take an interest in celebrating our community. New faces are welcome any time.
Happy Apple Festival Weekend!
