The GP-PTO will host a Fall Carnival at the Griggsville school building this Saturday from 6pm-8pm. This event is for kids aged three years and up ($5/child). Adults can enter for free. Lots of fall fun to be had!
FNBG is hosting a hurricane relief donation drive. Items will be accepted at all FNBG branches until tomorrow (10/24). Some items needed include non-perishable food, hygiene products, baby items, rubber boots, bug spray, tents, tarps, work gloves, blankets/sleeping bags, cleaning supplies, paper towels and toilet paper. If you have questions, stop in at the bank and they can help!
The Griggsville-Perry Elementary Halloween parade will be Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. GP would love to have your business participate in passing out store bought, individually wrapped treats! (Please ensure your treats are peanut-free.) If the weather is nice, the ghosts and goblins will parade uptown. If the weather is too cold/rainy, the parade will be moved to the high school gymnasium. An announcement will be made the day of the parade. Approximately 160 students will be in the parade. Your support is always appreciated!
Trick or Treat hours for the City of Griggsville will be 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 30 and 31. Participating houses should have their porch lights on.
The volunteer-run GP Snack Pack program provides a supply of free, nutritious food for Griggsville-Perry School District students when school lunch and breakfast is unavailable on a weekend or school holiday. This program is intended to help those children whose families find it difficult to have enough food for the entire month. Each weekend food bag contains enough food for meals and snacks, plus one can of vegetables and once can of fruit. All food is nonperishable and provided to children free of charge. The hope is that these resources will support the health, behavior, and achievement of every student that participates. If you would like to help support this program financially, funds may be sent to: GP Snack Packs, P.O. Box 51, Griggsville, IL 62340. (Checks payable to GP Snack Packs.)
Don’t forget to pre-order your copy of the 2025 calendar entitled “Landmarks of North Pike” at the North Pike District Library. Cost is $25/calendar. All proceeds will go toward the renovation of the Perry Library Branch.
United Nations Day is today (10/24). This day marks the entry into force in 1945 of the United Nations Charter. Oct. 31, 1947, the UN General Assembly, by resolution, declared that the day would be devoted to raising awareness of the goals and achievements of the organization and gaining support for its work. www.un.org
Have you tried a breakfast sandwich and warm drink from Brewed yet? I’m sure they would love to see you! Have a great rest of your week and Happy United Nations Day!
