The first week of Nov. the weather is cool in the mornings, and sunny and warm in the afternoons. We had a little rain, but not enough. We still have below average rainfall. Daylight Savings Time began Sunday, Nov. 3. The time was set back an hour. We gain an hour in the morning and lose an hour in the evening.
Many of us enjoyed the fun and festivities of Halloween Oct. 31. The Woman’s Club members had over 100 children pass in and out in costume at the Village Hall. They came with their parents, and friends got their treat, a bag of candy, and went on their way. Batchtown was busy with the comings and goings of the night traffic.
St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church had their Turtle Soup Supper Saturday, Nov. 2. There was a good crowd of folks who drove through to pick up their food from the Hall. Turtle Soup, beef sandwich, and pies, and other desserts were on the menu. Vera Ann and Marcy Klockenkemper and many others attended. The food was delicious.
Mark and Megan Klaas of Bethalto and their daughter Haley had a chili cook-out at their camper site near Batchtown Saturday, Oct. 26. Parents Virgil and Angeline Klaas, and brothers, Eric and Lea Ann, and daughters, Taylor, and Hannah, and Virgil II and Irene, and son, Hunter, and daughter, Grace all of Batchtown enjoyed the cookout. The colorful fall leaves, and warm weather made it a great time to be outdoors.
Robin Hillen took granddaughters, Helen, Franci, and Karson to Lewis and Clark Comm. College in Godfrey Sat. for a dance and tumbling competition. They perform at Kim’s Tumbling and Dance in Hardin.
Barb Bick and her daughter Lynn Rutherford returned home Monday from a trip to Branson, Mo. Riley Craig, Lynn’s daughter, also took a trip to Branson, and joined them. They saw some shows, went shopping, had supper together, and celebrated Barb and Riley’s birthdays. Barb’s birthday was on Oct 28, and Riley’s birthday was on Oct. 27. Happy birthday to both of you.
We are sad to announce that Dr. Kermit Bell of Batchtown has passed away. He was an eye doctor for many years, and was well known, and liked in the community. He was retired and living in his home in Batchtown. No further information is available. He is fondly remembered by all.

HOPE
Hope is the eternal spring
That lives within the hearts,
It yearns and pines and wishes –
A thing that never parts.
Hope is that with which we live,
Eternal is the dream
Of life of love and happiness
And all that it may bring.
