Holiday calendars filling up with activities
Birthday wishes go out to Audrianne Buzick this week! Happy 95th birthday tomorrow to you, Audrianne! Hope you have a beautiful day!
Congratulations to all GP Middle School students who competed at the IESA Speech Contest this past Saturday in Perry! Sounds like the event was a success with lots of helping hands from both adults and students. A big shoutout to Middle School Speech Team Advisor Mrs. Teresa Manker for organizing the contest!
Be sure to stop in at the Griggsville United Methodist Church Friday Nov. 15,) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for their annual bazaar! Lots of goodies will be available for purchase as well as a soup/sandwich/dessert lunch that will be served from 11 a.m.-1p.m.
The Griggsville United Methodist Church Women are currently taking orders for their frozen ham loaves. If you’ve never tried these, now is the time! Ham loaves are $3.50/ea or three for $10. The Perry United Methodist Church invites everyone in the community to join them for a potluck dinner on Nov. 20, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. This event is open to all, so bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and fun. Drinks will be provided. This will be a great opportunity to connect with neighbors and make new friends in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Come together and share in the blessings of good food and community.
There will be a craft show at the Griggsville American Legion on Nov. 30 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be at least 20 vendors with items for purchase. Table rental and raffle proceeds will go to the Legion and to the Griggsville City Cemetery. If you would like to donate to the raffle, please contact Kathy Buchanan at 217-491-2783.
The November Reading Challenge at the North Pike District Library is to read a non-fiction book on a subject new to you! What would you like to learn about?
One month from today, Dec. 13, the Perry Association for Community Enrichment (PACE) will host a lighted Christmas parade in Perry! The group is currently looking for people and businesses that would like to participate in the parade. They welcome cars, farm equipment, semi-trucks, golf cars, side-by-sides, etc. If you’d like more information on this event, or if you’d like to register an entry, please contact Nikki Mountain at 217-617-6138. What a great way to celebrate the holiday season!
Looks like a good week to grab a warm drink and start making your Thanksgiving dinner grocery shopping list. And as we inch closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, remember these words from Norman Vincent Peale – The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be thankful for.
