Craft show at the American Legion this Saturday
Eagle girls’ basketball came up short in the egional championship game last week with a loss against the Liberty Eagles. Congratulations to Coach Schultz and her team on a great season!
Congratulations to Griggsville-Perry’s Pre-K program as administrators recently received news they earned a Gold rating from the state of Illinois! The Gold Circle of Quality recognizes programs which have demonstrated quality on all standards, as validated by a state approved assessor. Great work, Ms. Spann, and all who help with this program!
There will be a craft show at the Griggsville American Legion this Saturday, Nov. 30. Proceeds will go to the Legion and to the Griggsville City Cemetery. If you would like to donate to the raffle, please contact Kathy Buchanan at 217-491-2783.
Dec. 13, the Perry Association for Community Enrichment (PACE) will host a lighted Christmas parade in Perry! The group is currently looking for people and businesses that would like to participate in the parade. They welcome cars, farm equipment, semi-trucks, golf cars, side-by-sides, etc. If you’d like more information on this event, or if you’d like to register an entry, please contact Nikki Mountain at 217-617-6138. What a great way to celebrate the holiday season!
There will be a fundraiser for the Zackary Thomas Memorial Scholarship Dec. 14 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Bring your Christmas gifts to Rumors Have it in Griggsville and let the Christmas elves do your wrapping! Cost is $5 per gift or $20 for six gifts. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to Zack’s scholarship fund.
The 10th annual Breakfast with St. Nick in Whoville (aka the North Pike Fire Protection District) will happen Dec. 14 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Bring your little ones for a chance to tell St. Nick their Christmas wishes and enjoy lots of other fun activities! A special appearance by The Grinch is sure to happen too. Families will enjoy breakfast, crafts, games and more. The North Pole Gift Shop will be open as well. Items priced under five dollars will be available for children to purchase as Christmas gifts for loved ones. A volunteer will be available to help them shop and wrap their purchases. Admission to this event is a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Perry Community Christmas Baskets. This event is being sponsored by the Ladies of North Pike.
Now that high school basketball season is underway, Brad Lipcaman at Country Financial is looking to name the first “Brad Lipcaman Country Financial Student Athlete of the Month.” Be sure to follow Brad’s Facebook page as it will be updated as the school year progresses, and monthly winners are chosen. Monthly winners will be entered to win a $500 scholarship to be given at the end of the school year.
