Announcing graduation dates for both eighth grade and high school
Congratulations to GP senior Mariska Sheurman on her selection as the “Brad Lipcaman Country Financial Student Athlete” for the month of April! Mariska is described as “a leader and demonstrates grace, understanding, responsibility, hard work and determination.” She plans to major in nursing through Blessing-Reiman College of Nursing to be a neonatal nurse.
If you are on Facebook, please be sure to follow the “Griggsville Fire Department” page. They share vital information for your safety. They suggest as you do your spring cleaning, don’t forget to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms. Replace the batteries if it’s been more than six months; test each alarm to ensure they work correctly; and be sure you have alarms on every level of your home. The fire department has a smoke detector program. If you are in need of one, please contact the Griggsville Fire Department!

Memorial Day will soon be here! If you’ve never attended a Memorial Day service in one of our local cemeteries, please consider it. The area Legions put in a lot of time and effort to these services, and it is a great way to honor those who have sacrificed by serving in the US military. If I can help find a cemetery service for you to attend, please reach out.
There will be a fish fry at the Griggsville American Legion May 26 with serving beginning at 11 a.m. and going until 2 p.m.. This fish fry will be for a freewill donation and is a fundraiser for the GP Snack Pack program at the school. Thank you to those who are planning it and giving everyone an opportunity to gather after Memorial Day services!
I’ve been noticing some really peaceful sunsets lately, have you? If the buffalo gnats would go away, I’d spend more time on my deck watching those sunsets! In the meantime, I will watch from the window and remember this: “Sunsets are proof that no matter what happens, every day can end beautifully.” – Kristen Butler
Have a great rest of your week and I hope you catch a good sunset soon!
