Perry Pioneer Days starts Friday
Yesterday was the grand opening of the coffee shop, Blue 10-41. If you missed the event, be sure to stop by later and check out Griggsville’s newest business.
Perry Pioneer Days will happen this weekend! Festivities kick off Friday evening at 5 p.m. with the fireman’s pork chop dinner at the firehouse. You can check out the full “All Star Celebration” schedule of events on the PACE: Perry Association for Community Enrichment Facebook. Hats off to the planning committee members who have been working to put this weekend together.
GP athletics have begun for the 2025-2026 school year. Junior high softball and baseball are off to a great start and high school golf and football (co-op with Pleasant Hill Wolves/Western Wildcats) are raring to go! If you get a chance, these young student athletes and their coaches would love to see you in the stands and on the sidelines cheering them on!
The Griggsville United Methodist Church invites all to attend a weekly Bible study series exploring The Ten Commandments by Life Guide Bible Studies. This study will begin Sept. 2 and will continue each Tuesday evening through Nov. 18. Sessions will begin at 7 p.m. in the church’s Good Shepherd Hall. This study will offer a deep look at the meaning, purpose, and enduring relevance of God’s commandments in our modern world and is open to everyone regardless of background or prior Bible knowledge.
The Griggsville Apple Festival is just over a month away. This years’ theme is “Fairy Tales and Apple Pails.” The festival committee invites all of YOU to participate in, and attend, one of the many events offered festival weekend. Schedule books will be in area businesses very soon, so be on the lookout! You may also check out the Griggsville Apple Festival Facebook page to stay up to date on events.
Apple Festival parade registration is now open through Sept. 18. Please email Jill Kunzeman with your parade entry (the sooner the better!) at [email protected].
The festival’s annual cake and cookie auction will take place the evening of Sept. 20. Have you found your favorite cake or cookie recipe? This is the main fundraiser for the festival, and we hope you plan to participate!
The 53rd annual Griggsville Apple Festival car and tractor show is set for Sept. 20 with registration from 8 a.m.-11a.m. and awards at noon.
Sign-ups are open for this year’s Johnny Appleseed and Miss Apple Blossom contest at the Griggsville Apple Festival. If your child is four to six years of age on the day of the contest and lives in the old Griggsville School District, they are eligible to participate. Deadline to sign up is September 5th by 6pm. A group photo and practice will be held at the stage on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. Contact Gina Sheurman at 217-257-4072 to sign up.
