“Back to Dexter Day 2025” Sept. 13
The Labor Day holiday traces its roots to the labor movement of the late 19th century, culminating in the first parade in New York City on September 5, 1882. Oregon was the first state to make it a holiday in 1887, and it became a national federal holiday on June 28, 1894, after President Grover Cleveland signed the law to reconcile with labor after the Pullman Strike.
