Another beautiful week in Calhoun, temperatures ranging from mid 70’s to mid 80 degrees. Sounds like the week ahead to also follow those same temperatures. Getting awfully dry and could sure use a wonderful shower of rain.
Little Cole Emil Affholder, son of Cody and Ashley Affholder of Golden Eagle celebrated his First Birthday recently. Grandparents are Cindy (and the late Emil) Kuhn and Hope Kemper and Brett Affholder. Cole has a brother Cohen, age 4. Great grandparents are Jack and JoAnn Kirn, Bernell Weigel and Ronnie Weigel.
My how this year is flying by. Already next weekend, September 4-6, is the Annual Calhoun County Fair with lots of activities taking place at that time. Tractor pulls, Demolition Derby, 4-H Judging, lots of vendors, food booths, Carnival rides and lots of musical entertainment. Friday evening at 7 p.m. the 2025 Junior Miss Calhoun Pageant, then on Saturday evening, the Little Miss Calhoun Pageant and on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. the Miss Calhoun contest. The photos of contestants in last week’s Calhoun News-Herald proved that Calhoun has lots of beautiful gals and the judges are going to have a difficult time choosing the winner. Best of Luck to all of them.
On Sunday afternoon I drove to Chesterfield, MO to the home of Trevor and Cyndi Axford and Mackenzie. It was their last Pool Party of the season and also a day to celebrate Julie and Caleb Carnes, Madison Morrow and Shelly Scherer on their recent birthdays. Also present were John Carnes, David Morrow, Dennis Scherer, Ashley Kirn, Noah and Addy and friend Ben Ketcherside, and Daniel and Brittney Holdinghausen, Sam and Elliot. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food, cold drinks. swimming and visiting. I remained overnight and returned home on Monday.

LABOR DAY PRAYER
Dear Lord, we give thanks for the dignity and fruits of Your labor, fair treatment for all workers and we seek strength and rest for those who work each day. We ask for rest when we are weary, Your guidance for everyone seeking employment and we ask that You be with those whose faces we might never see but who work tirelessly each day for the good of us all. In Your Holy Name, Amen
