Don’t forget “Back to Dexter Day 2025” this Saturday at the Dexter Schoolhouse (one mile west of Perry). There will be a potluck lunch at noon (bring a lawn chair) followed by entertainment as well as an auction. Money from the auction helps with upkeep of the school building. All are welcome to come and enjoy some nostalgia and fellowship at this historic country school!
Griggsville-Perry School District’s fall Pre-K screenings will be held Sept. 17 from 9am-3pm. Contact Lindsay Slight at the school at 217-833-2352 for questions or to schedule a screening.
Be sure to attend the Griggsville Apple Festival Sept. 19 and 20. You can “like” and follow the festival’s Facebook page to get information on all events happening this year. You’ll find details for the car show, parade registration, pageant information for babies, littles and big girls, apple pie baking contest, apple stand information, cake and cookie basket auction, mechanical bull riding rules, and so much more! Festival books are out as well. The Committee has been hard at work and looks forward to seeing you soon!
The GHS Class of 1965 will hold a class reunion Sept. 20 from 10am-1pm at Courtyard Café in Pittsfield. There will be more events throughout the day as well. A letter has been sent out with information, but if you should have questions, please call 217-833-2500 or 217-370-8020.
The Griggsville Fire Department gives the following fall safety tips as cooler temps move in. 1) Have furnaces, fireplaces and chimneys inspected and cleaned. 2) Keep space heaters at least three feet away from anything that can burn and never leave them running unattended. 3) Change smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries. 4) Never burn leaves near your home or other structures. 5) If you enjoy fire pits, keep water or an extinguisher nearby and make sure fires are fully out before leaving them. Great things to know for a safe fall season!
Save the Date of Oct. 14. This will be Volley for Hope at GPHS during the Tornado volleyball game. More details to come!
“Walk with me down Autumn Lane and watch as tress begin to change. They swap their green for red and gold and never mind as they grow old. Walk with me down Autumn Lane as summer sings her last refrain. And feel both warmth and cool fresh air as dappled light plays sweetly there. Walk with me down Autumn Lane and notice things don’t stay the same. As time and nature swiftly move, they come along and change us too.”
