GP’s Homecoming 2026 was a success all around as both the JV and Varsity Tornado squads handily snagged two victories over the Bushnell Prairie City Spartans! The After Prom parents served a scrumptious pulled pork meal in the cafeteria and new royalty was crowned. Congratulations to the 2026 Homecoming Royalty, King Kaleb Wachter and Queen Daisy Waters. Nichol Gymnasium was a buzz all afternoon and evening!
Congratulations to GP senior, Laynee Shoemaker, on being named the most recent Brad Lipcaman Country Financial Student Athlete of the Month. Best wishes for the remainder of your senior year, Laynee!
Valentine’s Day (this Saturday!) can be traced to the ancient Roman festival of Lupercalia, a mid-February celebration of fertility and purification that involved animal sacrifices and a matchmaking lottery. Around the end of the fifth century AD, Pope Gelasius I outlawed the pagan festival of Lupercalia and declared Feb. 14 as the feast day to commemorate the Christian martyr, Saint Valentine.
