The weather has been up and down, in the sixties on Friday, and cool and breezy on Saturday. It is March very unpredictable. We’re looking forward to milder temperatures this coming week. This Sunday, March 8th is the time change. Be sure to set your clocks forward for an hour. Longer days are ahead with longer daylight in the evenings.
This weekend was the Koinonia Retreat at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Meppen. Fr. Chuck was the visiting priest for the Koinonia. There were many new participants, and the Koinonia Team planned and organized it. It is an experience that has become well known and liked by the community.
The Calhoun Entertainment Company presents “Annie,” March 26 thru March 29. Thursday through Saturday 7 p.m., and Sunday’s performance 7 p.m. The performance is at the Center for American Archeology, Kampsville, Ill. Tickets are on sale at the following locations: Northside Family Foods, Hardin Package Liquors, all county locations of the Bank of Calhoun County, and all the locations of the Bank of Kampsville. Tickets are Adults $12.00, Seniors (over 60) $10.00 and Grade School and under: $10.00.
The St. Barbara Turtle Soup Supper is Saturday, April 11. Be sure to come and enjoy Turtle Soup with family and friends. Carry-outs will be available.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club will meet Wednesday, March 18. They will be discussing and planning the Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday, April 18.
The St. Francis of Assisi Dinner Auction is March 21 at 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. A delicious fried chicken dinner will be served. A live auction, and a silent auction will follow.
Brussels High School Game Day is March 13 – Pack the Pit is the game. The Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be Men and Women Events, and Concession Stands.
Pam Long is the new Superintendent in the Brussels School District and Chris Long is the new School Principal. Congratulations!
Linda Butler has recently moved to Liberty Village in Jerseyville. Her sister June Bizaillion, and her daughter Nancy visited with her there.
Kiera Sievers daughter of Clint and Chelsey Pluester will celebrate her 18th birthday on Saturday. March 14. They are planning a family dinner and a birthday cake. Have a wonderful year, Kiera.
Nick Siemer celebrated his 90th birthday on March 3.with his family. The celebration continued with family and friends at the Batchtown Tavern on Saturday evening. A good time with a nice crowd was enjoyed by all. We wish you good health and a great year Nick.
Kayle Siemer and Claude Raddatz are the proud parents of a baby girl. She was born Feb. 23, 2026. Her name is Kira Jo Patsy Raddatz. Her grandparents are Michael and Santina
Siemer. Congratulations to all!
The Calhoun Elementary J.B. Team played at the Bluff Tournament on Friday night and won. God job tea!
Kenny and Bette Eilerman spent two weeks at the home of Bryan and Lisa Lympkins. They stayed with their grandchildren who are in school while Bryan and Lisa were on vacation.
Linda Russell visited with Jeremy and Angie Russell and family over the weekend.
Vera Ann Klockenkemper visited with her sister Elda, and her daughters Tammy, and Tayna last week.
Michaela Eilerman celebrated her 17th birthday on March 7 with her parents, Mike and Tracie, and sister Allie. Happy birthday, Allie, have a wonderful year.
