The Calhoun Community is involved in Spring activities. The Calhoun Entertainment Co. production of “Annie” on Thursday, March 26-30 was one of the highlights of the week with a great response from the Calhoun community, and others from the surrounding counties. We all thank Jerry Sievers, the Director of the Entertainment Company, the cast, and everyone that helped in the show, for making it possible.
It’s Spring, the students are going outdoors and are playing baseball, and track and field events. We would like to hear from you about games, and activities that I can report on.
The Batchtown Woman’s Club Easter Egg Hunt at the Town Park is this Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. The Children are to meet at the Town Building on Main St. between 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. and walk to the Town Park with the Easter Bunny arriving at 1 p.m. The Club Members will organize the children into age groups for the Easter Egg Hunt. Everyone will enjoy seeing the children gather the Easter eggs, and candy. The community always visits after the Hunt. A time for conversation for adults and play time for the kids. Everyone enjoys their day.
The St. Barbara Church Spring Turtle Soup Supper is next Saturday, April 11, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You can either dine in or drive through. Turtle Soup will be available and will be sold by bowl, quart, and gallon. Beef Sandwich, Hot Dogs, and Desserts will be available for those who dine in. If glass jars are preferred, for the carry-out, please bring your own. It is hoped that the Turtle Soup Supper is a success. A new stairlift is available from the back of the church to the basement for those who need assistance. We hope to see you at the Turtle Soup Supper.
The St. Louis Cardinals opening Day at Busch Stadium in St. Louis was Thursday, March 26. Keith and Hope Klocke from Batchtown were there to see the St. Louis Cardinals win against Tampa Bay, the final score was Cardinals 9- Tampa 7. Keith and Hope enjoyed the day. The weather was perfect. They had a good time at the ballpark.
Shirleen McCary and daughter Dana attended the play “Annie” Saturday night. Some of the other people attending from the area were: Marcy Klockenkemper, Jessica Droege, Mary Kay Wieneke, Lisa Vogel, Robin Hillen, Mary Ann Bailey, LuAnn Baalman, Joyce Simon, Dianna Rose, Sharon Friedel, and Charlie Friedel, and many more!
Linda Russell had an early Easter Dinner and visit with her family Sunday, March 29th. Steve and Cindy and son Hayden Mazorus, Jeremy and Angie Russell, and daughters, Zoe, and Sadie Russell, and Bob and Bonnie Stepanek, and sons, Austen, and Michael Stepanek came for dinner, and to play games with other family members.
A Grief Support Group offering a safe, pleasant journey through loss together. You don’t have to walk this path alone. “Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted,” Matthew 5-4. A Steubenville Bake Sale Fundraiser will be held Sat., April 11, at the following locations: the Bank of Kampsville, Hardin, and Brussels, the Bank of Calhoun, Hardin, Ayerco, H.P.L. Jacob Maag, Veterinarian is at the American Legion Hall in Batchtown every Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The Batchtown Cornerstone Church has Sunday Service every week at 10:45 a.m. and Bible Class at 9 a.m. every Wednesday. A Good Friday Service will be held at 7 p.m. Followed by Refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
