My helpers and I have spent the week putting the finishing touches on St. John’s annual egg hunt here in Kampsville Saturday, April 11, beginning at 1 p.m. In addition to the egg hunt, kids will receive prizes , we have refreshments and a lot of fun.
Great job to Channing Johnson he got his first Tom turkey Saturday morning. It weighed 22.5 lbs. with a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Me describing it doesn’t do it justice. The picture was amazing and his dad Ed was smiling just as big as him.
Happy 85th birthday to Elda Hayn on March 16. She celebrated with cake and family.
Happy 93rd birthday to Ron Wendt on March 26, and happy 19th birthday to Ava Clowers on the 26 as well.
Happy 51th anniversary to Dave and Joanne Dexheimer on March 29. They celebrated by enjoying Harry Potter at the Fabulous Fox.
Ava Clowers and I spent Sunday at Ekerts in Belleville enjoying the “Tulip Trail.” It was absolutely fabulous. I recommend anyone going to get there early, especially on a weekend. We got there about an hour after they opened and it was already crowded but everything ran so smoothly. We did all of the things that were offered and had so much fun by the time we were leaving in the afternoon the crowd had more than tripled in size. There are so many things that are offered there. It’s a great time and I would highly recommend it.
Most people who know me know that I really don’t like negativity and I definitely don’t like to be writing about something negative. Unfortunately, sometimes I have to. Nick Kamp and his crew did an amazing job on our new park and the kids have been enjoying it and the adults as well so it’s very aggravating that someone felt the need to drive their car through it. In addition to just tearing things up for vandalism purposes, it’s also a safety issue if you choose to drive your vehicle through the park. I can’t imagine why anyone would think there was any sort of fun in tearing up property. With that being said if anyone has seen anything, please contact the sheriffs office.
Now, as I said, I am a positive person. So to finish this part of it up, I will say more people have enjoyed it, and the comments have been amazing on how wonderful it is to let one person ruin the joy of that. So I hope the kids here continue to enjoy it and all the visitors here do as well.
Friday evening I enjoyed the track meet at Southwestern High School, the Pleasant Hill/ Calhoun Co-op did a great job. Some amazing athletes. I haven’t had a chance yet to make it to the Warriors softball or baseball games so I’m hoping to catch some of that this week but I’ll probably be on the Easter egg tour over the weekend snapping as many pictures as I can.
Mark your calendars for the Inaugural Rick Smith Memorial Derby April 25 at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds with 80’s Concert featuring Big Guns. The cost for the derby and the concert is $20.
Please continue prayers for Billie Jo Eickmeyer , Aiden Snodgrass, Mary Ann Gress, Kiera Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Sue Baze, Kurt Roth, Connor Gilman, Christie Baalman, Liz Schliecher, Kathryn Chapman, Luanne Baalman, Joyce Blumenberg, Sue Aderton, Diane Rose, Lisa Waters and our troops.
