Rick Smith Memorial Derby this Saturday April 25 at the Calhoun Fairgrounds, with 80’s Band “Big Guns” admission is $20.
Calhoun Community Foundation is doing their “Cash for Roadside Trash” bags can be picked up at the banks throughout the county and brought to the County Highway Department in Hardin or St. Mary’s parking lot in Brussels Saturday April 25 from 9-12. Your group will be paid two dollars per day. It’s a great way to make our county look better and earn a little money as well. Huge shout out to two groups who did their part cleaning up last weekend.
Abby Medford and her crew cleaned up the West Side and the Brussels Girl Scouts cleaned up Brussels. This is a great event that is hosted every year by the Calhoun community foundation. We have such a beautiful county. Please do your part and don’t litter.
The Calhoun County Health Department hosted “Earth Day” Friday at McCully’s Heritage Project. This is the fifth year that the health department has hosted it. Thank you to the dedication and hard work of their employees. Surrounding schools and kids of all ages enjoyed it.
We were very excited that the fourth grade from Pleasant Hill enjoyed our new park as part of their day. Nick Kamp and his crew did a great job on it and we love seeing it used.

The Calhoun County Health Department will hold a blood drive at the Presbyterian Church Tuesday, May 5. Please call the health department to schedule your appointment.
Get signed up for the Holler Hustle, pre-registration has to be done by May 1. The 5K will be May 16 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Calhoun high school football field. I’ve done this many times in the past and you can bet I will be there on that Saturday morning. I’m not sure if I’ll be running as I used to. I’m kind of slowing down a little but I will definitely be there showing my support helping to raise money for the streaming service of HUDL for indoor sports.
