The water is definitely coming up and has displaced a few things here in town, hopefully it will crest soon, and recede back to where it should be.
A reminder, May 4 work on the Hardin Bridge has brought it to one lane, we are fortunate in Kampsville to have our ferry running and our amazing crew .
If you’re using Kampsville as an alternate route, don’t forget to stop at the Legion and get your queen of hearts ticket.
I attended the Calhoun unit 40 art show Friday evening at the elementary/ junior high school. I can’t say enough about the wonderful art teacher Sarah Becker. She does such an amazing job. We truly are blessed to have her.
Congratulations to Hunter Thornton and Holly (Baalman) who were married Saturday. Also congratulations to Ryan Graner and Kara (Baalman) who were also married on Saturday.

A huge thank you to American Legion Post 636 Hardin Ladies Auxiliary for their generous donation of a porch goose for the residents of Evercare of Calhoun. I am sure the residence and staff will have a good time keeping it decorated for all seasons and holidays.

Exciting news from the Calhoun County Fair Board will be having advance sales on Arm Bands and Season Passes for the 2026 Fair on May 20, June 17, July 15, August 12 and August 26. Ride arm bands can be purchased for $20 at the Calhoun County Fair Board Office. Season passes can also be purchased then. This is a way to help alleviate having to pay everything all at once this way you can space it out. It would also make great gifts for someone.
Congratulations to Jack Zipprich 2026 Jacksonville Rotary Scholar Athlete. Jacksonville Rotary acknowledges 20 west-central Illinois school athletes for outstanding leadership, athletic achievement and academic excellence through high school careers.
Please keep our friends and neighbors in Michael and your prayers their beloved St. Michaels Church was torn down.
