Congratulations to the 2026 GPHS Prom Royalty, King Ty Leenerts and Queen Emoree Stauffer! This years’ theme was “Dancing Thru the Afterglow.” Promenade was this past Saturday evening in The Nic with a dance in the small gym that followed. Once the dance ended, students were transported to Scotties Fun Spot in Quincy for After Prom fun. Thank you to the After Prom Parent Committee, GPHS Administration, and all the parents and businesses who supported this event. It gives everyone peace of mind that these young adults are safe during this season of celebration.
Memorial Day is quickly approaching, and the GP Snack Pack Committee is gearing up for a Memorial Day Fish Fry! This event will be held May 25th from 11am-2pm at the Griggsville American Legion. It will be for a free will donation. After you attend a service in one of our local cemeteries, make plans to stop in and enjoy some fish while supporting a great cause!
There will be an electronic waste disposal event on May 30th from 9am-12pm at the Pike County Senior Center (220 W. Adams Street, Pittsfield). Items that will be accepted include computers, cell phones, tablets, TV’s, DVD players, printers, copiers and batteries. Other electronics accepted will be small home appliances, audio equipment, gaming consoles, and wearable tech. Start spring/summer cleaning now and dispose of items properly!
Detroit United Methodist Church will host a summer Bible study beginning June 9, at 6pm and go through July 21. The study is titled “Called” and will focus on discovering God’s purpose and calling in everyday life through the study of Scripture.
An eight-week Bible study exploring the life and faith of King David will also begin June 9 at 10am at the Pioneer Express in Perry. Everyone is welcome! For information on either study, please contact Pastor Robb at [email protected].
Sunday was a beautiful day to celebrate our mothers and the special women in our lives. Be looking ahead to Father’s Day in June! It will be here before you know it!
As we continue through the busy month of May, I came across the following quote and felt it was a good one to share with all of you – “It’s humbling, really, how God moves quietly while we are so busy overthinking, doubting, and questioning if things will ever work out. You pray. You cry. You wait. And then one day, out of nowhere, He provides. Not always in the ways you expect, but always exactly in the ways that you need…and that’s God looking out for you.”
