Elementary Showdown basketball games Saturday
The 100th Annual Community Christmas Tree will be held Christmas Eve at the Nichols Gym beginning at 5 p.m.
The Class of 2026 will host an Elementary Showdown basketball game for girls and boys grades K – 4 Saturday, Dec.10. The first game will start at 3 p.m. Information about teams, colors, and coaches will be announced later. Player cost is $5. General admission is $3. Pulled pork sandwiches and concessions will be available to purchase.North Pike Fire District will host their 8th annual Meet with St. Nick Saturday, Dec.17. Come have breakfast with Santa and enjoy the fun! Griggsville Christian Church will host a Christmas Eve Candlelight service beginning at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the services. All are welcome!
Griggsville-Perry Elementary invites you to their Holiday Open House Thursday, Dec. 15, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. Come enjoy an evening of family fun: games, snacks, dancing, crafts and more! Families may come at any time during the open house hours. A list of events will be posted around the building and your family can choose what to do.
There will be a cookie walk beginning at 5 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 16 prior to the Tornadoes vs West Central game which begins at 6 p.m.
Save the date! G-P Homecoming game will be Feb. 10 against Payson-Seymour. Watch for details!
Congratulations to the G-P Tornadoes who took first place in the North Greene Tournament last Friday. The Tornadoes beat Lovejoy 47-20. Wyatt Lipcaman and Michael Myers were named to the all-tournament team. We extend our sympathy to the family of Larry DeSpain. Larry passed away on Monday, Dec. 5 at Illini Community Hospital. Dalton Crawford has returned to his home in Alexandria, Va. after being here for the death of his father, Greg Crawford of Liberty.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Dee Howland who passed away at Arcadia Care in Jacksonville Dec. 6.
Lexi Kessinger, a student of Bradley University in Peoria, is back in our area and will be doing hands-on clinic work as a physical therapist in Jacksonville for 10 weeks, and then will do clinic work in Hannibal for 10 weeks. She will graduate from college in May. Welcome home, Lexi!
Brian and Cheryl White and Matt and Erin Clayton attended the Tran-Siberian Orchestra concert in St. Louis Saturday. While they were at the show, Payton White and Alex and Austyn Clayton spent a fun time with Dan and Andrea Holak where the little elves got the Christmas tree in tip top shape for Santa’s arrival!
