Summer Hill
A hill is nearer to a prayer
Than anything within the green
Of summer, lingering there
Upon a hilltop, I have seen
A loveliness beyond the things
Of earth, and felt an angel’s wings
And sometimes in a wide, blue night,
Companioned only by a hill
And stars, oh, I have felt the might,
The power of God, and known a still
Swiftly certainty my soul shall be
A temple for all eternity.
